God is God. He knows what he is doing. When you can't trace his hand, trust his heart.
- Max Lucado

At every thought of you who are our friends, we thank God for your love and interest in our ministry to the precious Georgians. You cannot know how you encourage and bless us. Your lives shine forth with the love of God to the nations and we are so privileged and blessed to take your love to Georgia and wherever He sends us. From our hearts, we thank you and pray for God’s richest blessings to be yours.

Children are the hands by which we take hold of heaven.

In early spring, our oldest son, David, Heka and boys plan to move back to China to continue their work there. They are excited about the way the Lord is leading them. The Little Lights homes are full and the children are doing well. We have two precious little lights that we sponsor. It is such a wonderful privilege and responsibility to pray for and support these precious girls.

The School of Tomorrow/Georgia is still on winter break but should begin second semester this coming week. Before the break we were getting at least weekly reports from our administration of many good things happening within our students and staff alike. We are grateful for our capable staff and to be able to communicate closely with them while we are here in America. I communicate with many of our former and present students through Facebook. I also, “talk” to some of our staff through this media. It is wonderful to stay close to these, our beloved Georgian family.

My new word for this year is “YIELD”! This word is so packed with Truth. To be honest, it scares me. It certainly doesn’t mean being passive or lazy. To me it means, after study and prayer… doing everything I know that I should do about any given situation… I ultimately lay it all at HIS feet and rest in His peace… knowing that He will lead and guide me in ALL my ways.  (Proverbs 3:5,6)  To me the word “yield” means to keep my eyes on Jesus and He will keep me in perfect peace.  (Isaiah 26:3)  It also means to remember that He is the Potter and I am the clay.  (Isaiah 64:8)  I encourage you to pick a word for this year, as well.

The person who knows how to laugh at himself will never cease to be amused.

I (Jan) am feeling stronger after my brain surgery which was a year ago last October. Thank you so much for your prayers. Before the surgery, I was losing weight and had gotten very thin. Since my surgery, I have gained to a much more normal weight. I’m so thankful for the good days and praise God for His constant care over us. We do plan to travel back over to Georgia in a few months. We, along with our son, Daniel and his family are hoping to sell our home and move into wherever God leads soon so that we can be free to go forth. They are also feeling that they are to be free to go forth for Him-as He leads.

My journal ramblings:

“Rest now. Drink deeply at My well. It is a Fountain of Living Water.” Again I say, “Drink deeply and be satisfied at My refreshing, restoring, healing waters.”

Are you weary and in pain?
You shall not lack hope ever again.
Remember to drink from these waters each day.
Sit at My feet and My will obey.
“Take up your cross”… What does that mean?
It means you must keep moving through good days and lean.
So sing My praise…a new song I give.
There’s joy in the morning and a new life to live.
Your life will become sweeter as the days go by.
For My love for you heals and is your constant supply.
Praise Me in good times and in the bad.
My Word is true and It makes your heart glad.
Rejoice with the angels and with all in heaven.

Together we’ll walk through two-thousand and eleven.

My book

Speaking of our Lord leading us, I have written a book and now am working on getting all the material together for publishing. I plan to title it, “Following the Shepherd”.

This may be my book’s introduction:

I wrote this book to preserve the true stories of my life that presumably the readers might gain insight and become confident followers of our beloved Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

I began the book with my portrayal of the small, but powerful nation of Georgia. Along with this description, I have added my depiction of the Mark IV Harvest ministry as it is today while we continue to minister to the precious children of Georgia.

We have come a long way from having six attendance centers throughout the city of Tbilisi to having one building for all twelve grades. To God be the glory. Great things He has done! With grateful hearts we give Him all the praise!

Hundreds of people have helped bring about the School of Tomorrow/Georgia and we are very appreciative to all that have given to Mark IV Harvest.

‘Thank you for giving to the Lord;’ we will sing this phrase throughout eternity.

Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down that the mountains might shake at Your presence… that the nations may tremble at Your presence… for since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear; nor has the eye seen any God besides You who acts for the one who waits for Him. But now, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay and You - our potter and all we are the work of Your hand. (Isaiah 64:1,3,4,8)

Little John the Baptist

Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And who ever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. (Matthew 18:4-5)

boy and cat

Johnny's Mother looked out the window and noticed him "playing church" with their cat. He had the cat sitting quietly and he was preaching to it. She smiled and went about her work. A while later she heard loud meowing and hissing and ran back to the open window to see Johnny baptizing the cat in a tub of water.

She called out, "Johnny, stop that! The cat is afraid of water!"

Johnny looked up at her and said, "He should have thought about that before he joined my church."

The Internet is an amazing blessing. One day Earl was working on our genealogies and he typed in my paternal grandmother’s name. To his surprise a short poem/note written in her handwriting came up. He copied it and it is one of my treasured keepsakes. I would scan it and paste it here but it is too faded so I’ll type it here:

Dear Friend Ethel..

May florets of love around thee be twined;
And the sunshine of peace shed its joys o’er thy mind.

Your Friend,  Addie May Cole

A quote from an email-forward some one sent me:

'I shall pass this way but once. Therefore, any good that I can do or any kindness that I can show, let me do it now, for I shall not pass this way again.'

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him… so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Heb. 12: 1,2)

May God bless you and yours as you journey through this year of 2011!
