Remember the old hymn, "Showers of Blessing"? There is the line:
“Mercy drops round us are falling, but for the showers we plead.”
Recently, I heard God speak to my heart the word, “Mercy!” What a beautiful and rich word! Its meaning according to the Webster dictionary is “a blessing that is an act of divine favor or compassion.” This made me remember the little poem I wrote this summer in Georgia as I sat out on our balcony one breezy day!
LIFE IN A CLOTHES LINE!
Look at the colors as they dance in the breeze.
Fiery reds, dazzling whites, pretty pinks and blues.
Flitting here and fluttering there; then hanging limp and still.
What makes them dance, these scraps of thread?
The wind is what HE said.
Ah, yes, He answers, do you see?
It is the Wind of My Spirit that makes My people dance, as well.
When I blow on them, I give them light and color and Life!!!
Without the wind the clothes are dead. No movement means no life!
Without movement of air, no rain would come and all the plants would die.
Let the Wind of My Spirit blow on you, My child, and the River of life will
quench your thirst and then you will refresh all who come near with My
cool cleansing, healing, sparkling Water of LIFE!!!
What is so neat is that I had been praying for a cooling as we have just been so hot and humid! As I was sitting there behind my clothes line on the 7th floor of this house-a wonderful WIND - not just a breeze - began to blow and the cooler temperatures behind it! AHHHHHHHHH! GLORY! Lovely Jesus! Oh, how He loves His kids and provides for our every need!
"For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground: I will pour My Spirit on your descendants and My blessing on your offspring; they will spring up among the grass like willows by the watercourses." Is. 44:3,4
I claim this, not only for our own family, but for all the students in the School of Tomorrow! "Taught of the Lord and great will be their peace."Psalm 65
"There will be silence before You, and praise in Zion, O God, and to You the vow will be performed. O You who hear prayer, to You all men come. Iniquities prevail against me; as for our transgressions, You forgive them. How blessed is the one whom You choose and bring near to You to dwell in Your courts. We will be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Your holy temple. By awesome deeds You answer us in righteousness, O God of our salvation, You who are the trust of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest sea; Who establishes the mountains by His strength, being girded with might; Who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the tumult of the peoples. They who dwell in the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your signs; You make the dawn and the sunset shout for joy. You visit the earth and cause it to overflow; You greatly enrich it; the stream of God is full of water; You prepare their grain, for thus You prepare the earth. You water its furrows abundantly, You settle its ridges, You soften it with showers, You bless its growth. You have crowned the year with Your bounty, and Your paths drip with fatness. The pastures of the wilderness drip, and the hills gird themselves with rejoicing. The meadows are clothed with flocks and the valleys are covered with grain; they shout for joy, yes, they sing."
May His mercies that are new every morning flow down upon you and yours, I pray!
